What I'm Up To Wednesday

I had every intention to recap my weekend on Monday, but I’m still battling this cough from being sick last week and I pulled a muscle in my neck during a workout over the weekend.  Needless to say, I’m falling apart. Please send help!!

What better day to pop back in than mid-week?!  Only 2 more days until the long weekend and 1 day until college football starts for Louisville. I’m one happy girl right now.  I absolutely LOVE football.  And long weekends.

I had a fabulous weekend (minus the coughing and neck pain)!  I went out on date #3 with the guy and it did not disappoint, as usual.  I have such a blast with him and our conversations are so easy and natural. I don’t think I’ve ever smiled and laughed as much as I do when I’m with him (insert heart eye emoji over here).   We also ended up talking on the phone a few times Sunday ;)  If I haven’t mentioned before, one major downside to dating in LA is distance. Unless you live in the same zip code (which is rare), your commute is not going to be pleasant. One word…TRAFFIC. This makes it harder to see each other as much as I would like, but I also think we’re moving at a good pace. To be continued…

This week has been crazy busy at work and I’m trying to fully get back into my workout routine since returning from my Nashville trip.  I never realized how much I missed my hiking until I could get back at it.  And the weather. I’ve come to realize how spoiled I am with Southern California weather. It’s been 70s and 80s lately with a nice cool breeze and cooler temps at night. Perfection.

I’m not sure what I have planned for the 3-day weekend yet, but I know I’ll be taking advantage of more pool time that’s for sure.

Sorry for the random rambling post today! Just thought I would catch y’all up and wish you a great rest of your week.  Go CARDS!!

Nashville Recap

Happy Friday friends!! I’m back…in case you missed me, which I know you did :) I got back from Nashville on Sunday afternoon. Between playing catch up with laundry and work, I just had to add getting sick in there. Which had me down for the count.  I’m (mostly) re-energized and ready for the weekend! First, let’s recap my amazing girls trip.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much this trip was needed. I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in such a long time.  I enjoyed every minute of it and the memories will last a lifetime.  Instead of trying to recap every single day, I thought it’d be much easier to give you a quick rundown of our days and then overload you with pictures.  You’re welcome.

Basically our days consisted of:
1. Brunch
2. Exploring Nashville
3. Naps
4. Rallying to get ready, go to dinner, and out to the bars
5. Come home around 3 am and pass out...and do it all again the next day

I don’t think I’ve partied that hard since…well ever.

Michelle and I before the concert

Dixie Chicks concert- It did not disappoint!

If you're ever in Nashville you MUST eat at Biscuit Love!!!

Michelle, Becky, and I exploring

At the County Music Hall of Fame Museum

The drinks that started it all

We made friends everywhere we went

Becky and I clearly danced (and sweated) our butts off!

Exploring Opryland

Group shot at dinner on our last night @ The Southern

I was so happy my BFF Krissi could drive down from Louisville to visit me :)

Until next time Nashville! Have a great weekend. See you back here Monday for what I'm hoping is an awesome weekend recap.

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday y'all!! No I haven't had my coffee yet, and yes I am already that pumped. Why you ask?! 1. I had an amazing weekend. 2. Tomorrow is my Friday. 3. I leave for a girls trip to Nashville tomorrow night. Now let's recap that weekend.

Friday was spent eating pizza, drinking wine, and catching up on Bachelor Pad. Enough said.

Saturday I had a second date with the guy I mentioned previously. We met during the afternoon for a hike in Malibu Canyon, walked on the beach, had dinner, did a little sight seeing, and capped off the night with a few drinks. I had an awesome time and am definitely looking forward to the next one :) I didn't even look at my phone so sadly no pictures. Trust me when I say the views of the mountains and canyons on one side and the ocean on the other; it was breathtaking.

On Sunday I got ready for my short work week and started packing for my trip. Then met a friend for mani/pedi's and dinner.

Seriously a perfect weekend. And now my trip to look forward to! I'll see y'all next week! Unless you're following me on Snapchat (jenk0225) and Instagram where I'm sure I'll be posting throughout the week.

Randomness on a Friday

Happy Friday friends!  I thought what better way to start the weekend than a bit of randomness...

Guilty Pleasure | Online shopping.  This has been my go-to lately when I’ve needed some retail therapy. I seriously online shop WAY too much. It’s an addiction. But, hey, it’s a healthy one, right?!

Favorite Show to Watch | This is a hard one…I watch way too many shows, but sometimes you just need mindless entertainment.  During the fall season I would have to say Nashville. In the off season, for sure Bachelor/Bachelorette/Bachelor in Paradise (clearly another addiction).

Favorite Healthy Eats | I have been OBSESSED with brussel sprouts recently. I don’t know why, but I can’t get enough.

Favorite Treat | Hands down, ice cream. Always and forever.

Workout Love |
Hiking is of course one of my favorites seeing as I love being outdoors.  You know I also love my HIIT guides by Kayla

Celebrity Crush | Channing Tatum.  Can I just have the kind of marriage he and Jenna have?! Adorbs

Favorite Thing In Your Makeup Drawer | My new Vice lipstick by Urban Decay. I used to shy away from pops of color on my lips, but I’m so glad I took the plunge and bought this.

Health or Fitness Tip You'd Share | I’m nowhere near an expert, but I think lifting weights has propelled my weight loss and leaning of my body. Love it.

Ideal Date Night | This requires me to get a date, right?! I actually have a hiking date this weekend with the same guy...and I'm excited :) But I feel like an ideal date night would include great conversation, doing something active/outdoors, and laughter (hopeless romantic over here).

Wearing | Khaki work pants and a blouse. What I wish I could be wearing: yoga pants.

Favorite Cocktail | I haven’t been much of a cocktail person recently. I usually prefer wine or cider. On the chance I do want one, Moscow Mules are a fave.

Bachelor or Bachelorette | All the above!! It’s like watching a train wreck, you just can’t look stop watching!

If You Could Vacation Anywhere, Where Would You Go? | I can only pick one?! Australia has been at the top of my list forever. Such beauty!!

I hope y'all have a great weekend and enjoy this gorgeous weather!

Fun in the Sun

Happy Monday friends!! I'm going to need a lot of coffee to get through today, or more like this entire week.  If you remember my sister-in-law and niece came to visit me last week.  It was a whirlwind of a couple days, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. My heart is so happy!! I'm glad they were able to visit me and it reminds me how lucky I truly am, to have such an amazing family.

After picking them up from the airport, we went into LA to do some touristy things (insert eye roll lol).  As much as I love having visitors, I find myself dreading the typical Hollywood scene.  BUT the company was great so I won't complain too much.  We went to the Grove, Hollywood Blvd, Chinese theater, and to see the Hollywood sign.  Then of course lunch at In and Out...because when in Cali.

We came back to my place because my niece wanted to swim.  After freshening up we left for dinner.  We went to Neptune's Net in Malibu, on the coast, and it was one of the best places I'd eaten in such a long time!! Like I'm still thinking about the food.  We then decided we needed to walk the beach and watch the sunset.  Perfection.

The next day, after the most delicious brunch, we headed to the Santa Monica Pier and Promenade.  My niece wanted to ride a few of the rides on the pier.  We rode the ferris wheel and I have to admit, I was a bit freaked out. Like, when did becoming an adult make me more fearful? Although we did have some amazing views. We spent the rest of the day exploring and doing a little shopping. That night, we headed to my cousin's place and had dinner with her, her husband, and my aunt and uncle. Sometimes I just need that family fix and it makes life's troubles melt away.

The next day, I took them on a hike because well I wanted to give them a since of what I experience almost daily.  While my niece complained most of the hike, we did get in a good workout. Which was much needed seeing as we had been eating out basically the entire time. Afterwards, we headed up to Carpinteria where my sister in law has a cousin that lives. We spent the day at the beach and hanging out. We came home, cleaned up, and went out for our last dinner.

It was such a bittersweet trip! I absolutely loved every minute being able to spend time with them. Yet when they left it made me miss them more. It's hard living over 2,000 miles away from my family and not seeing them nearly as much as I'd like. I'll continue to cherish every bit of the time I do get to see them.  Until next time!

Monday Confessions

It's Monday, I'm blogging, and I'm in a great let's talk confessions.

I confess...I'm crazy excited because my sister in law and niece come in town tomorrow! I've been begging for visitors since moving and finally I have some! Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Snapchat (jenk0225) for all the fun this week.

I confess...I've been kicking butt with my workouts and I weighed myself over the weekend and I'm down 6lbs in like 3 weeks! No better feeling than seeing progress made, not only on the scale but within myself as well.

I confess...I went on a date this past weekend and hands down it was the best date ever! It had nothing to do with where I was or what I was doing, but who I was with.

Pre-date selfie :)

I confess...I booked Garth Brooks tickets for September and I have my girls trip to Nashville in like 2 weeks. Clearly you can take the girl out of the South, but you can't take the South out of the girl.

I confess...Time needs to slow down. How is it already August 1?!

I confess...While I don't want to rush time, I am SOO ready for football season!!

What are some of your Monday confessions?! I promise I'll be back next Monday with a recap of my adventures with the fam.

A Kid In A Candy Store

When I first decided to start dating after my move here, a very wise friend provided me with what I believe is a great example of dating in Los Angeles.  Guys are like kids in a candy store.  What with over 4 million people that live here, the dating selection pool is enormous.  There are so many options. While on one hand that might seem great, plenty of possibility and different types of people, it’s also very frustrating.  If you talk to anyone that has dated in this city, you’ll inevitably hear a disgruntled sigh with a very reactive eye roll.

There are so many choices that these guys are so afraid to “take a chance” on someone for fear of not getting the best “candy.”  Hence benching.  If you’re unfamiliar with benching, well you’re probably married or have been in a significant relationship for some time.  Read all about benching and its popularity here

I’m not saying that it can’t go both ways, I’m sure there are many females that do the same thing.  And while my dating experience isn’t really vast (I was married and with my ex for 10 years and have only really dated for the past 4), I do expect a level of respect from another human.  I won’t apologize for my standards as they may be high, but I know I’m well deserving and have a lot to offer.  I refuse to play the game and will exit said candy store if I feel that’s what is happening.

On a positive note….I have a date this weekend that I’m very excited about.  I don’t want to go into a lot of details, but I have a great feeling (for several reasons).  Positive vibes sent my way would be much appreciated!

Life one day at a time: Heartbreak, break-ups, and moving on....:

If you’re single and dating, I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences….and if you’re married or in a relationship, did you ever have some of these experiences? Am I just in denial about dating? I’d love to hear from you…
